Russian President Vladimir Putin assessed the results of import substitution as good – the authorities have solved almost all the tasks set in this area. He said this during a meeting with participants in the Congress of Young Scientists.
“Considerable funds have been spent, and the result is good. We have practically solved all the tasks that we set ourselves. They have not yet been resolved – there are such thick tomes of what we have to do, but a lot has been done, “Putin said on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.
In the process of import substitution, according to the head of state, there are still issues related to microelectronics and other areas. At the same time, he called innovation one of the most important areas of import substitution, but Russia almost did not deal with them: previously, the authorities had to first of all deal with import substitution in the military-industrial complex.
The volume of products replacing imports in Russia may amount to about 600 billion rubles in 2021, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, previously reported. According to him, more than 1000 import-substituting projects have been launched in the country, of which more than 500 have already entered serial production.
In July, Vladimir Putin signed a decree putting into effect an updated version of Russia’s national security strategy. The document talks about the importance of import substitution, countering sanctions and supporting Russian business in foreign markets, as well as the need to reduce the share of the US dollar in foreign trade settlements.
