Russian arrested in France, detained on a ship with a ton of cocaine

Law enforcement agencies of France continue investigative actions against two Russians detained on a ship with a ton of cocaine, the Russian embassy told Kommersant. One of them was sent into custody, the second was released on recognizance not to leave.

“We keep under control the situation with the Russian seamen detained on the ship in the port of Dunkirk. <...> We will continue to take the necessary measures to protect the rights and interests of Russian citizens, ”the press service of the embassy told Kommersant.

The ship was detained on October 1. It flew under the flag of Liberia. According to media reports, there were 20 people on board: citizens of Russia, Ukraine, the Philippines, Ethiopia and Romania. More than 1 ton of cocaine was found on the ship.
