The Russian military began patrolling the demarcation line between the “Russian” zone of responsibility in Syria and the zone controlled by the international anti-terrorist coalition led by the United States, representative of the Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria (CPVS) Viktor Kudinov told TASS.
“This is the border dividing the territory controlled by the international anti-terrorist coalition, the East zone, and the West zone controlled by the armed forces of the Russian Federation,” Kudinov said. In his opinion, sleeping cells of the “Islamic State” (IS, banned in Russia) are possible in these territories. The main task of the Russian military on patrols is to show their presence and readiness to provide assistance to residents of the territories.

The US military is illegal in the provinces of Deir ez-Zor, Al-Hasake and Raqqa. Earlier, former US President Donald Trump admitted that the US military remains in Syria mainly to control oil reserves. The Syrian Foreign Ministry considers US military actions on its territory to be attacks and regards it as an aggression that needs to be stopped.
