Rutube blocked the ability to download the application on iOS abroad

Video hosting Rutube has banned downloading its application on iOS outside of Russia. As the company reported, Apple offered two options – limiting downloads of the application abroad or removing state-sponsored media content.

“This decision was made so that Russian-speaking users of the service, most of whom live in the Russian Federation, could download the Rutube application on the iPhone,” the video hosting message says in Telegram. Users abroad will be able to watch Rutube on the web.

The video hosting notes that Russian media and bloggers, whose channels were blocked on YouTube, post videos on Rutube.

According to MTS, the number of Russian users on the RuTube platform increased by almost a third from February to April: the audience growth was 28%. However, the number of unique users has not changed.

How Rutube is increasing its audience – in the material “Kommersant FM” “Bloggers were invited to RuTube.”
