Sacramento Kings G League Player and Girlfriend Arrested in Connection to Murder
A shocking and tragic case has emerged as a Sacramento Kings G League player and his girlfriend have been arrested in connection to the kidnapping and murder of an acquaintance in Las Vegas earlier this month.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Chance Comanche, a 27-year-old player for the Stockton Kings, was arrested by California FBI agents on Friday and is pending extradition to Nevada for kidnapping. His girlfriend, Sakari Harnden, 19, was arrested two days prior in Las Vegas and was booked on kidnapping charges.
The charges stem from the disappearance of Harnden’s friend, Marayna Rodgers, who was reported missing on December 7 in Las Vegas. Rodgers had gone out with friends on December 5 and was supposed to meet up with Harnden, who brought Comanche along with her. However, Rodgers had not been seen alive since.
The investigation took a grim turn when police were able to gather more information on Rodgers’ case after arresting both Harnden and Comanche. This led detectives to recover human remains in a desert area in Henderson, Nevada. The Clark County coroner determined the remains to be Rodgers, leading police to determine that Harnden and Comanche were responsible for her kidnapping and murder.
The Stockton Kings have dropped Comanche from the team following his arrest. Police have stated that both Harnden’s and Comanche’s charges will be updated to include murder charges.
According to court records, Comanche is expected to appear in Sacramento County court on Tuesday, while a preliminary hearing for Harnden is scheduled for December 28.
The public defender’s office representing Harnden did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and jail records do not list an attorney representing Comanche.
