DIG/ Started on December 5, 2024 with a sports day and the decoration of deserving workers, the Société d’exploitation du Transgabonais (Setrag) celebrated, on December 7, 2024 at its headquarters in Owendo, the feast of Saint Eloi, patron saint railway workers.
Several activities were organized to mark these moments of rejoicing for all the agents and their families.
“I think every year we try to innovate. This year, in addition to involving workers and their families, we have set up stands for children because, here too, it is an opportunity for railway workers to show their children their workplace.
It’s a great success for the railway workers who organize this party since we see the enthusiasm, we see the number of people who frequent the place”, rejoiced Christian Magni.
For the next edition, the railway company plans to include more educational stands around the railway and highlight the work of mechanics.
“Many users who use the railway, particularly the local population, do not know the difference between a wooden sleeper and a concrete sleeper.
So this will certainly be an opportunity to present to the population the idea or the reason why we moved from wooden sleepers to concrete sleepers. It will also be an opportunity to have stands for mechanics so that they can explain to the population what they do so that a train can run.”, said Christian Magni.
The Sant-Eloi celebration is an event that strengthens the links between the company, its employees and the community.
Through this initiative, Setrag wishes to highlight their professions and raise awareness among populations of the importance of rail in everyone’s daily life.
