Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili voted at a polling station in Tbilisi, located in the building of the 67th school, Day.Az reported on Saturday, citing Georgian media.

“I voted for the new Georgia, for which I came to this country 22 years ago, for which my ancestors prayed. No one will lose, because Georgia will win,” she said.

Please note that polling stations in Georgia opened at 08:00 local time and will close at 20:00.

A total of 3,508,294 citizens have the right to vote, including 95,910 abroad. For these parliamentary elections, 3,111 polling stations were created, including a record 67 stations abroad. Georgians outside the country can vote in 53 cities in 42 countries.

The voting process will be observed by representatives of 64 international and 102 local organizations.

This year, for the first time, members of parliament will be elected exclusively through a proportional system based on party lists. To win seats in parliament, parties must win at least 5 percent of the vote.

A total of 18 parties are participating in the elections, five of which have formed coalitions.

For the first time, an electronic voting system will also be used in parliamentary elections. Thanks to modern technology, it is expected that within an hour after the polls close, more than 90 percent of the ballots will be counted and the results will be published.
