Samsung Galaxy S20 will receive One UI 5.1 update soon

by time news

Last year, Samsung promised to release four major Android OS updates to its high-end smartphones and some mid-range smartphones. However, the update was only promised for the Galaxy S21 and newer phones. The Galaxy S20 series is still only expected to receive three major Android updates, which means Android 13 was the last big software update. However, there is good news for Galaxy S20 users.

Samsung has started internally testing the UI 5.1 update for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra. Samsung server information reveals that the next tested software update has a firmware version G980FXXUFHWA1. Since the tenth letter of the firmware version is H, it shows that the software is uppercase. Galaxy S20 series devices running One UI 5.0 based on Android 13 have the letter G in the 10th position of the firmware version (G980FXXUFGWA5).

So this is good news for Galaxy S20 series users, because Samsung is likely to bring One UI 5.1 update to their devices. The latest version of One UI brings many new software features, and the South Korean company has hinted that it has kept an additional lock screen and other user interface customization features for One UI 5.1.

The Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra will get up to two more years of security patches, which is much better than most other Android device manufacturers.
