Samsung presents for the first time an OLED screen that reaches a brightness of 2000nits. Until today, the record in Samsung devices was reserved for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which arrived with a brightness of 1750 nits. Above it stands the Xiaomi 13 Pro with a luminance of 1900nits. Such brightness is not new to Apple, as the iPhone 14 Pro/Max arrived with a maximum brightness of 2000 nits. Now it’s Samsung’s turn to reveal the maximum technology in its OLED screens.

at the exhibition CES 2023 Held these days, the company presented the new screen next to a standard screen and you can definitely see the difference. The new screen brings much better performance both in terms of color display and brightness. The new screen brings a much better display compared to the standard screen that was placed next to it.

Samsung’s new screen passed the UL (Underwrites Laboratories) certification and received the name DR 2000 (Ultra Dynamic Range, Ultra high dynamic range). According to Samsung, as UHD video content becomes more and more popular today, the importance of dynamic range increases. From here came the need for a stronger light intensity.

One of the most important figures in a screen with such brightness is the current consumption it requires. Samsung states that it has been able to increase the brightness while maintaining low and efficient current consumption. This means that although the illumination intensity has increased significantly, the current consumption has remained the same.
