Dissatisfaction of health service users with the performance of health workers; the unavailability of essential generic medicines for the benefit of vulnerable groups; the lack of infrastructure, rolling stock and technical medical facilities as well as accessibility to health centers.

Fatmata Bancé, Deputy Coordinator in charge of SPONG program (standing, microphone in hand)

These are, among others, according to Fatmata Bancé, Deputy Coordinator in charge of program of the Permanent Secretariat of Non-Governmental Organizations (SPONG), the main results of the data collection of the community monitoring project in the 31 communes of the health districts of Fada, Kaya, Boussouma, Ziniaré, Zorgho, Tenkodogo, Manga, Pô and Koudougou.

These results, according to Fatmata Bancé, reinforce the thesis known to all, namely that the Burkinabè population, in general, has difficult access to health services. This data which will be validated, she further indicated, our member associations will be able to use it to carry out advocacy actions at the municipal, provincial, regional and national levels in order to change the situation of the communities.

Eugène Bakouan, project manager at SPONG and responsible for monitoring and evaluation of this project

According to Eugène Bakouan, project manager at SPONG and responsible for monitoring and evaluation of this project, nearly 37,000 people were surveyed in one year and through 4 collections carried out over 3 quarters. “Around 37,000 people were surveyed during the year 2023. These are particularly representatives or guardians of children, women, users of health services.

Collections took place quarterly; so there were 4 collections. In terms of reception, there are many respondents who are satisfied, around 98% on average across all 9 districts. The waiting time is around 20% of respondents who find it relatively long…”he said.

Restitutions, he also informed, have already been made in the districts and regions concerned. This meeting, he suggested, is therefore intended to be a sort of assessment, and to draw lessons for the rest of the process. This meeting, recalled Fatmata Bancé, is part of a project financed by UNICEF with the Permanent Secretariat of NGOs (SPONG).
