The party of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz made a statement that he was able to prevent a nuclear strike on Ukraine.

Thus, Rolf Mützenich, who holds the position of leader of the SPD in the Bundestag, recently expressed his opinion about the importance of expressing gratitude to the Chancellor for his diplomatic mission to China. The latter, he said, made a significant contribution to preventing a potential nuclear attack from *Russia at the direction of its President Vladimir Putin.

However, Philip Pyatov from BILD expressed doubts about this statement, recalling that American media had already reported on US concerns about a possible Russian nuclear strike on Ukraine in the fall of 2022. It is noted that these efforts to prevent the attack involved China, which, after Scholz’s visit to Beijing, called for a cessation of the use of nuclear weapons.

According to US media reports, Scholz’s contribution to the matter was modest and his main role was to convey the message from Washington to Beijing. In response to a media request, Scholz’s office refers to his comments after a meeting with Xi Jinping in November 2022, where he mentioned that he asked the Chinese leader to use his influence with Russia.

According to military expert Carlo Masala, a professor at the Bundeswehr University in Munich, while the United States was making threats against Russia, Scholz contributed to reaching an agreement with China and India, which opposed the use of nuclear weapons, including in the context Ukraine. He stressed that although Scholz helped change China’s position, the claim of preventing nuclear war seemed exaggerated because there was no convincing evidence that a nuclear attack was imminent.

Earlier, a simulation appeared showing what a US strike would look like in response to a Russian nuclear attack.

Kursor also reported whether Russia was preparing to launch a nuclear strike on Ukraine.
