Cuban Alcides González, a 71-year-old resident of Miami-Dade, has shared his experience in his unexpected encounter with violence after being the victim of an armed robbery.
According to González, the incident occurred around 9 p.m. last Wednesday, while he was picking up mail at his aunt’s house.
Two armed young men suddenly approached where the Cuban was, demanding cash, his cell phone and keys.
González described the moment as terrifying, saying that one of the attackers placed a gun to his forehead while the other pointed it behind his ear. “They hit me right here on the head and I have 2 lumps and it hurts right here,” González said, highlighting the physical and emotional impact of the incident.
For this Cuban, the main concern during the assault was the fate of his 13 cats, which he considers his family. “If I die, who is going to take care of them? “I am an animal lover,” he expressed, underlining the emotional bond that unites him with his pets.
The suspects were described as young people between 20 and 25 years old and are still at large, which has raised fears that they may attack other people.
Detective Argemis Colome of the Miami-Dade police urges the community to provide any information that may help in the capture of the attackers. “According to the victim, the suspects knew what they were doing, so we do not rule out the possibility that he is not the only victim,” Colome said.
