Malappuram ∙ Malappuram in the finals of the State Senior Women’s Football Championship. Malappuram qualified for Kalashakali by defeating current champions Thrissur (1-0) in the tournament held at Thiruvalla. Malappuram’s opponents will be Kozhikode in the final which will be held today at 4 pm.
Munnetra player Unnimaya’s goal earned Malappuram the ticket to the final. Unnimaya and captain Souparnika were in good form in the forward line. Goal keeper Varsha also played a crucial role in Kerala’s success, stopping Thrissur’s advances several times. Earlier, Kerala had won the state senior women’s title in 2017.
