As part of the “Together for Hanau” campaign, service clubs in Hanau and the region are organizing a soup stand at the Christmas market. The proceeds are donated to charity.
Hanau – when the days get shorter, temperatures get colder and rainy days become more frequent, the heart craves warm food. It is indeed not for nothing that soup is a popular dish that is frequently enough served in winter and at Christmas time. Here is the soup stall of the “Together for” campaign. Born“, for which 14 service clubs from Hanau and surrounding areas are involved, located at the Hanau Christmas market.
Every serving sold not only warms the body, but also contributes to a good cause. Proceeds go to the Hanau Palliative Patient Aid Association.
The initiative began in 2012,when service clubs first came together to work together on this joint project, explains co-initiator peter Berger of the Brothers Grimm Lions Club and longtime organizer of the booth. Since than, the service clubs’ offering at the Christmas market has consolidated.
Service clubs in Hanau and the region are selling soups for a good cause
“people know where we are and are targeting us specifically.” This isn’t just as every portion of soup served supports a charitable cause. But also because a new soup is offered every day. “Some people keep coming back and asking which ones are available today.”
The service clubs Inner Wheel Club Offenbach-Hanau-Maintal, Leo Club Main-Kinzig, Lions Club Hanau, Hanau Brothers Grimm, Hanau Schloss Philippsruhe, Main-Kinzig Intercontinental, Zonta Hanau, Soroptimisten international Hanau, Rotary Club Hanau and are involved in the Hanau-Maintal campaign, Round Table 74 Hanau, Women’s Club 11 Hanau, Old Tablers 74 Hanau and Rotaract Club Hanau.
According to Berger, the concept of the campaign, collaboration between clubs, is unique in the country. But this also involves a lot of work, says the head of the organizing team, Dr. claudia Schramm of Soroptimists International hanau. He took over the institution this year and is “putting his heart and soul into it.” He is excited about the idea of all the service clubs, totaling about 200 people, joining together for the campaign.
Organizing joint action is tough
But this requires a lot of planning. The clubs will gather for their first meeting in March. Then the planning begins. A decision is made about which organization to donate and tasks are distributed.
As head of the organization, Schramm has an overview: who gets the wine, where the plates and spoons come from, who requests the shelter, which is provided by the city of Hanau, and who takes care of the attendance on social media <a href="https://www.tz.de/verbrauc
There are six services per sales day and each service is always carried out by two clubs. the timing must thus always be precisely coordinated, Schramm and Berger point out. And when there are failures, schramm spontaneously takes up the trowel himself. As the head of the organizational team, the full-time pediatrician has a lot to do. “But it’s good stress, fun stress.” She is supported by her team, which includes a dozen colleagues.
In addition to soup,glögg and mulled wine are also sold at the stand
With his work behind the scenes, but also at the sales stand,he would like to raise awareness of the campaign among young people. “Another motivation for me is that we all work together in a hut. You can exchange ideas and are supported by more experienced members,” explains Schramm. But the charitable and unique nature of the campaign also gives her motivation. But above all “the feeling of giving something and receiving ten times as much in return”.
The soup is donated by various sponsors such as the Martin Luther Foundation and Café Eden. In addition to soup, included vegetarian In addition to vegan bread, during the opening hours of the Christmas market from 11.00 to 21.00 there is also bread from the Kolb bakery, Glögg (Scandinavian mulled wine), with raisins or almonds, mulled wine, lard bread and homemade bread. hand. , donated christmas cards. Interview with Dr. Claudia Schramm,Head of the organizing Team for “Together for Hanau” Campaign
Time.news Editor: Welcome, Dr. Schramm! Its a pleasure to have you here to discuss the wonderful work being done through the “Together for hanau” initiative at the Christmas market.
Dr. Claudia Schramm: Thank you for having me! I’m excited to share what we’re doing and the impact it’s making in our community.
Editor: Let’s dive right in. Tell us a bit about the origins of the “Together for Hanau” campaign. How did this collaboration of service clubs come about?
Dr. schramm: Absolutely! The campaign began in 2012, initiated by service clubs coming together with a common goal: to make a positive difference in our community. Over the years, this collaboration has only grown stronger and more consolidated, allowing us to serve delicious soup while supporting a charitable cause.
Editor: Soup stalls at a Christmas market sound delightful! What kind of soups are you offering, and what’s the idea behind offering a new soup every day?
Dr.Schramm: We strive to keep things fresh and exciting! each day, we present a different soup, which encourages people to come back to see what’s available. It creates a sense of anticipation and community engagement. People know where to find us and often ask, “What’s on the menu today?”
Editor: That’s a fantastic way to foster community ties! I understand that all proceeds from the soup sales go to the Hanau Palliative Patient Aid Association. How does that assistance impact those in need?
Dr. Schramm: it truly makes a difference. The proceeds help provide care and support for patients at the end of life and their families. This funding can go towards various forms of aid, and knowing that every bowl of soup contributes to such a noble cause is heartwarming for both the donors and the recipients.
Editor: Collaboration seems to be a key element in your initiative, with numerous clubs participating. Can you share more about the unique aspects of your teamwork?
Dr. Schramm: Yes, the collaboration among 14 service clubs, including the Lions club, rotary Club, and Zonta, to name a few, is indeed unique in Germany. While it takes a lot of coordination and planning, the commitment from every individual—approximately 200 volunteers—makes it rewarding. We put our hearts into this campaign, working collectively to ensure its success.
Editor: That sounds like a monumental effort! Are there any challenges that come with organizing such a large-scale initiative?
Dr. Schramm: definitely. Organizing joint actions like this requires extensive coordination. We have to manage schedules, soup recipes, and,of course, the logistics at the Christmas market. Dialog is vital to ensure everyone is on the same page. But the positive outcomes and community spirit that emerge from the event make all the hard work worthwhile.
Editor: It must feel gratifying to see the fruits of your labor come to life. What has been the response from the local community so far?
Dr. Schramm: The response has been overwhelmingly positive! People actively seek us out, and many express delight not just in the soup but in the cause we support. Customers appreciate knowing they’re making a contribution to help those in need, which fosters a beautiful sense of community.
Editor: As we look ahead, what are your hopes for the future of the “Together for Hanau” campaign?
Dr. Schramm: I hope we can continue to grow our collaboration, perhaps including even more clubs and expanding our outreach. More the merrier! Ultimately,I want to strengthen the idea of unity for a noble cause and inspire others to join us in supporting charitable initiatives.
Editor: Thank you so much for your insights today,Dr. Schramm. It’s inspiring to hear how something as simple as a soup stall can bring people together for such meaningful work!
Dr. Schramm: Thank you for shining a light on our efforts! We welcome everyone to join us at the market and become part of this wonderful cause.
Editor: We’ll definitely keep an eye on the amazing work being done in Hanau. Best of luck with the campaign!
