Several Basque entities, including Deusto Business School, have been victims of a cyber attack without consequences, according to official sources at the educational center. A service provider of these entities and administrations, which in the case of Deusto managed data on interns, has been the target of the attack, although the criminals have not managed to appropriate any information, according to the same sources consulted by this newspaper. . For this reason, the University of Deusto has highlighted that the consequences of what happened have been, fortunately, minimal. After the cyber attack, Deusto Business School sent a notice to students and other potentially affected parties: “The University of Deusto would like to inform you that the supplier company in charge of managing the academic management platform for Deusto Business School’s internships has suffered a cyber attack against its databases”.

The statement adds that “according to the technical reports presented by the supplying company, there is no evidence that there has been a leak of such data, which in no case includes information of an economic nature. However, you are advised to be cautious about electronic communications that seem suspicious, especially if they ask for sensitive information.

The University of Deusto immediately reported the incident to the Data Protection Agency and together with the supplier company has already begun the deployment of technical measures to prevent new incidents of this type, which are increasingly common. This university has its headquarters in Bilbao although it also has a campus in Donostia, in Mundaiz, and another in Madrid.
