The Municipality of Guatemala and Volunteer Firefighters reported on December 31 about several fires that were recorded on the last day of 2023, and in the early hours of 2024. No deaths were reported in any incident.

Amílcar Montejo, spokesperson for the Municipal Traffic Police (PMT), reported that several vehicles suffered damage, although the extent and possible causes are unknown so far. The presence of the PMT was needed to divert vehicles and attend to several pedestrians.

According to emergency services, the fire originated in the kitchen of the facility, so they worked to put out the flames. No victims were reported.
