THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A teacher was sexually assaulted in a KSRTC bus. Contractor Jaffer was suspended from the property. Preliminary investigation by the KSRTC vigilance unit into the incident revealed the exact fault of the conductor. The conductor was subsequently suspended. The KSRTC authorities had handed over the investigation report to the Transport Department. Earlier, Transport Minister Antony Raju had said that action would be taken against the conductor in the incident.

However, the culprit has not been identified yet. The complainant alleged that the assailant had escaped from the bus during the altercation. The teacher, a native of Kozhikode, lodged a complaint with the Nadkavu police. The Women’s Commission has also lodged a complaint.

The girl, who was introduced through social media, pretended to be in love and was taken to a lodge in Perinthalmanna, where she was threatened and then robbed of her jewelery. The police said that the accused used to live in quarters in different places and they are investigating whether there is a possibility of similar cases against the accused. The accused was produced in Tirur court and remanded.
