Amir Mufti Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim of Islami Andolan Bangladesh has expressed deep concern and anger over the suicide of Fairuz Avantika, a student of Law Department of Jagannath University, and called for action against those responsible for the incident by posting on social media Facebook.
In a statement on Sunday (March 17), Pir Saheb Charmonai said, teachers are the artisans of making people. If the character of teachers today, then where will the students go? How to become a teacher in an important university such lust? Not only in Jagannath University, but in all public-private universities of the country, such incidents are happening frequently. In these institutions, students seek justice and express their helplessness day after day. It’s not suicide by any means, it’s murder. Women are not safe anywhere in the country if the university administration has a tendency to harbor criminals.
Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Kareem said, if there is an education system for girls at all levels in accordance with Islamic law and if it is managed by women, such incidents will not happen. Islam has given women not only equal rights but priority. If that right of Islam is established, women will not face any difficulty anywhere.
All those responsible for the murder of Charmonai Pir Fairuz Avantika, including teachers and classmates, should be brought under strict and exemplary punishment. So that the lascivious see such punishment and refrain from such misdeeds. Also those involved in sexual harassment in all universities should be brought under justice.
He said that some of the university’s anthropomorphic teachers have gone up against the ban on hijab. In fact, those who have bad character only speak against the rules of Islam and speak against hijab.
He called for women to follow the hijab rules and to pass a law that no one has the power to stop those who voluntarily wear the hijab or veil from doing so.
