The president Claudia Sheinbaum trusted that Bertha Alcalde make a good job like new head of the Attorney General’s Office of the Mexico City.
In a morning conference at Palacio Nationalthe federal president described Mayor as an honest woman, with knowledge on the subject. “She is an honest woman, she also has a specialty in criminal law, she knows the subject (…) she is going to do a good job,” he said.

Regarding the selection process, the chairwoman Sheinbaum projection what in the Mexico City The head of the Prosecutor’s Office is appointed by a commission appointed by Congress local.
“The head of Government does not participate in the decision of who is the prosecutor, it is a commission that Congress chooses (…) it is an independent decision of the leadership of Government”, he said.
On December 23, Bertha Mayor Lujan protested as the new head of the Prosecutor’s Office General of capital Justice. With 51 votes in favor, 15 against and zero abstentions, Morena and allies in the local Congress approved her appointment as the new prosecutor for the period from 2025 to 2029.
