Tierra del Fuego continues to be shocked by the death of Matías Rodríguez, national senator for that province. Justice investigates a suicide.

Rodríguez’s body appeared in the property located at 1900 Del Monte Street in Ushuaia and, it was reported, he had been shot. The legislator was 41 years old, married to Laura Beatriz Ávila and had two children.

The local press stated that it was the official guards who found Rodríguez’s lifeless body and that he had no signs of violence, which is why it is believed that he committed suicide.

Shock over the letter left by the senator of Tierra del Fuego Matías Rodríguez

The letter that the official left before his death was published in different media, in which he exposes a love deception involving his wife and the mayor of Ushuaia, Walter Vuoto.

“This early morning of October 18, I found Walter Vuoto and Laura Ávila in the double room of Walter’s house. They confessed to me that they were lovers a long time ago. My friend, best man at my wedding and godfather of one of my children. She, my wife and the love of my life,” states the writing that Rodríguez left. Sign with her name and his ID.

The note he left was uploaded to a chat where Mayor Vuoto is and has the time printed: 5:47 p.m.

Vuoto is the mayor of Ushuaia and leader of La Cámpora. After the death of the official, on his social networks, he expressed: “Deep pain for the departure of my colleague and friend Matías Rodríguez. My condolences and support to family, friends and colleagues in the face of this irreparable loss.”

For her part, Ávila, head of the local Kirchnerism councilor block, remains silent after the tragic outcome.

Prior to his death, during the Peronist Loyalty Day, the mayor shared on social networks the image of an event that took place, in which he is seen hugging Ávila. The woman also posted a photograph of her on her social media from the same day.

Police sources indicated that the senator had been shot, so the main hypothesis points to suicide.

A member of the pro-government bloc of the Senate, Rodríguez was 41 years old and the father of two children. He had been elected by the Frente de Todos in 2019 and had a mandate until 2025.

Previously he had been a national deputy, head of the ANSeS delegation in Ushuaia and delegate in his province of what was Comfer/AFSCA, currently Enacom.

Last year, the Peronist leader expressed his intentions to fight for the Governorship of his province. Vice President Cristina Kirchner also expressed her “deep pain” at the news online, in a post that was immediately replicated by the account of La Cámpora, the organization created by her son Máximo de ella where Rodríguez was active.

The PRO deputy, Tito Stefani, was another of those who fired the leader: “Amazement and sadness at the loss of Senator Matías Rodríguez. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones at this difficult time. Rest in peace”.
