Kentucky residents have a direct way to support those escaping domestic violence this Saturday, February 7, through the annual Shop & Share event.
A Simple Act, A Powerful Impact
A statewide donation drive aims to provide essential supplies to domestic violence shelters across Kentucky.
- More than 45% of women and 35% of men in Kentucky experience domestic violence in their lifetime.
- In 2025, Kentucky shelters provided safe haven for over 2,300 individuals.
- Shop & Share raised over $349,000 in 2025, contributing to a total of over $6 million donated since 2008.
- Participating stores include Kroger, Family Dollar, Food City, and Walmart locations.
As a commonwealth, Kentucky strives to be a safe haven for all families. Sadly, the reality is that domestic violence impacts a significant portion of the population. More than 45% of women and 35% of men in Kentucky will experience some form of domestic violence during their lives – these aren’t just statistics, they represent our neighbors, friends, and family members from every corner of the state.
Organizations like ZeroV and the network of regional domestic violence shelters across Kentucky provide critical support to survivors as they begin the difficult journey of healing and rebuilding their lives. In 2025 alone, these shelters housed more than 2,300 people, offering a lifeline to those fleeing abusive situations.
Often, individuals and families escaping domestic violence leave with little more than the clothes they are wearing. Through Shop & Share, Kentuckians can ensure that survivors arriving at shelters have access to everyday essentials. Every contribution, no matter the size, can truly make a difference – and potentially save a life.
Last year, the Shop & Share event raised over $349,000 in cash and in-kind donations. Since its inception in 2008, spearheaded by Jane Beshear, the event has generated over $6 million to support survivors.
This Saturday, February 7, offers an easy opportunity to get involved. While completing your regular shopping, consider picking up a few extra items to donate. Volunteers will be stationed at participating stores with lists of most-needed supplies, including food, diapers, and other essentials. Simply leave your donations with the volunteers after checkout, and they will be delivered to local domestic violence shelters.
Kroger continues its long-standing partnership as a key supporter of the event. This year, additional participating stores include select Family Dollar, Food City, IGA, Pennington’s Foodfair, Save A Lot, and Walmart locations, as well as local grocery stores. A complete list of participating locations can be found at ZeroV.org/ShopandShare.
Donations will be accepted at most locations from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time.
To those who may be experiencing domestic violence: know that help is available. You are not alone, and your courage will lead you and your family toward brighter days. Support is here.
Let’s continue to demonstrate the spirit of Kentucky by supporting our neighbors in need.
Thank you to ZeroV and Kroger for their ongoing commitment to making this event a success each year.
Let’s make this the most successful Shop & Share yet.
