BOLZANO. On Monday afternoon, the patrols of the Police “Flying” Squad were called to intervene, within a few hours, following two different requests for intervention for as many thefts in some shops.
In the first case, the police were sent to “Center”where the presence of a man who had locked himself in a bathroom in an attempt to escape the checks by security personnel was reported. After being caught wearing stolen goods from the CVG store, he refused to leave the toilet. The man – later identified as a 62-year-old Slovakian citizen who had been living in Alto Adige for some time – apparently mortified by his action, after having repeatedly apologized, returned all the stolen goods, which were immediately returned to the owners of the shop. He was reported for theft; Police Commissioner Sartori issued a dismissal ban against him from returning to Bolzano for the next 2 years.
Shortly afterwards, a crew from the “Flying” Squad was sent in Museum Streetwhere a man on the run had been reported who a few minutes earlier had been involved in a theft from Zara. Thanks to the help of surveillance cameras, the subject was promptly identified and stopped in Piazza Erbe. The man, already known to the police, is a 26-year-old Moroccan citizen with various precedents including threats, aggravated theft, voluntary bodily harm, sexual violence and robbery.
Inside a backpack in his possession, not only the stolen goods from Zara were found, but also other goods stolen from the supermarket Despar and in the shop New Yorker. All the stolen goods have been returned.
Reported for aggravated theft, the police commissioner issued an expulsion order.
