Oscar Bobb is enjoying the star life in Manchester. At the same time, thoughts turn to his friend Mikkel.

– It puts things very much into perspective. It shows that we have nothing to complain about.

Oscar Bobb smiles in the meeting with VG. He has no reason for anything else. Most things have gone the way of the shooting star in recent months.

Now he is sitting at the national team meeting with a new long-term contract with Manchester City. On Friday, the EC-ready Czech Republic awaits at Ullevaal.

But when we ask him about his mate Mikkel Tveiten, he does get serious.

Last week, Tveiten told his story to VG. A blood clot forced the Lyn talent to retire at the age of 21.

“I have cried a lot since I found out. There has been a fear of losing football. It’s such a big part of me. You shouldn’t underestimate the importance of being part of a team,” Tveiten said in the interview.

– I played a lot with Mikkel when I was younger. Not only was he very good, he was also a good mate. Seriously one of the nicest people I’ve met. Someone who is always kind and wants good for others, says Bobb to VG during a press conference at Thon Hotell Storo.

Football is full of ifs and what ifs. Of the two boys who met at Kringsjå almost daily, everyone could see that both had the potential to go far.

At the same time, there is so much else that needs to be done.

– It’s absolutely awesome. Very brutal. At the same time, I am so happy that everything went well. It shows how brutal the world can be. It is a great pity that Mikkel has been taken away from football, says Bobb.

– Football problems are not real problems in the world in a way, so it gives a lot of perspective, continues the 20-year-old.

Who meets VG and the other media with a slightly new self-confidence, it may seem. He responds cheerfully to the visit from Morten Ramm and Erik Solbakken during the work on the NRK documentary about the national team boys.

But when we ask how life has changed after signing a contract which, according to TV 2, gives him close to NOK 500,000 a week, he seems completely unaffected.

– I have been asked about it in the past and I don’t think it is very different. Everyday life is the same. It is clear that you feel a bit more “in place” and that you are more involved, says Bobb, who is clear that he has not made any spontaneous purchases after allegedly tripling his salary.
