An unidentified CNG-powered auto-rickshaw driver was killed in an accident at Hanif flyover in the capital’s Wari.
The accident happened on Wednesday (March 20) around 11:30 pm.
Deputy Inspector (SI) of Wari Police Station. Saddam Hossain Arif said that a car on Mayor Hanif flyover near Wari police station hit the CNG autorickshaw. The auto-rickshaw got stuck in it. The driver was seriously injured. Then passers-by took him to the hospital. There the doctor declared him dead.
He said that the identity of the deceased was not immediately known. Details are being sought. A case has been filed under the Road Transport Act in this incident.
Pedestrian Mohammad Sourav said, while walking over Wari Hanif flyover at night, I saw a speeding car hit an autorickshaw. But could not notice any car pushing CNG. Later, when the CNG driver was taken to Dhaka Medical, the doctor declared him dead.
Mohammad Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMK Hospital Police Camp, said the body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy. The matter has been informed to the concerned police station.
