Productive alliances in the agricultural sector will soon emerge. This was decided on Wednesday on the sidelines of the International Agricultural Show in Meknes.

The Minister of Agriculture, Mohammed Sadiki, indeed presided over a signing ceremony of four framework partnership agreements between the ministry, represented by the Agency for Agricultural Development (ADA) and four commercial partners, namely Marjane Holding, Nectarome Marrakech, VerdeOrto and VMM.

“These agreements respond to the strong will of the Department of Agriculture, which has been working actively since the advent of the Generation Green 2020-2030 strategy for the introduction of a new generation of agricultural organizations. This through the enrichment of farmers’ organizational models covering both economic and social aspects and in parallel with the development of agricultural aggregation in order to multiply the means allowing the achievement of the objectives set, particularly in terms of grouping together small producers for a better access to the market”, underlined the ADA in a press release.

Thus and within the framework of this dynamic, the ADA launched a pilot project of productive alliances within the framework of the program of reinforcement of the agri-food value chains financed by the World Bank.

This pilot project concerns 10 productive alliances undertaken by 16 cooperatives, bringing together 728 producers, including 296 women working in different sectors, namely market gardening, arboriculture (apple and walnut), organic crops, legumes, cumin, argan, honey and milk (cheese).

The “productive alliance” approach promotes the partnership between a group of producers and a buyer, with the support of the State, through the implementation of business plans drawn up in order to better meet the requirements of buyers and this , within the framework of clear and well-defined trade agreements.

The objective for producers is to access more remunerative and high value-added markets, which are more reliable and capable of absorbing larger quantities of products than traditional markets and to circumvent the loss of value linked to multiple intermediaries in certain sectors.

Having proved its worth in several Latin American countries, this approach has allowed a marked increase in the income of the producers involved thanks to the increase in the flow of marketing of agricultural products, recalls the ADA.
