These recommendations, the report of which will be made public subsequently for the benefit of ministries and public institutions, come from various scientific workshops carried out by a research consortium bringing together different national establishments, such as the IAV, the National School of Architecture, the National Institute of Agricultural Research and the National Forestry School of Engineers, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, maritime fisheries, rural development and water and forests.
For a transition towards inclusive and green agriculture:
– Establish an agricultural research contribution strategy that allows the coordination of research activities in a more efficient and transparent manner.
– Establish a long-term financial mechanism for agricultural research, as well as for the execution of financial charges for programs promoting transparency and diligence.
– Establish incentive mechanisms for co-financing and risk sharing.
For genetic innovation:
– Strengthen the roles of strategic decision-making,
– Update the national regulatory framework,
– Use genetic resources,
– Work sovereignly in the seed sector,
– Promote nature-based solutions.
For the conservation of genetic resources:
– Carry out the characterization of these genetic resources
– Proceed with the installation of a gene bank, as well as potential genomic techniques capable of contributing to the reduction of certain emissions.
For innovation in sustainable agriculture:
– Promote research in order to encourage the emergence of innovations and practices focused on the sustainability of production systems at the local level.
– Establish an institutional framework to strengthen partnerships between the public and private sectors in the field of agricultural research, highlighting South-South cooperation aimed at facing African challenges.
– Intensify the training and qualification of young people and women in supporting innovation, thus embodying the future of research
