Have you made a donation to Sidaction during the past year? Be careful, your data may have been hijacked by a hacker. This Wednesday, the French association fighting AIDS revealed to Le Parisien that one of its service providers was the subject of an act of “cyber-maliciousness”.

“Sidaction has become aware of a violation of the hosting system of one of its service providers involving a possible risk of disclosure of personal data of certain donors (less than 20% of people who have donated since January 2023 could be affected) », Announces the organization in a press release.

Bank card data not affected

The association indicates that the data which could be affected by this hacking are the name, first name, postal address, email address, telephone number of the donor or even the amount of the donation. More worrying, “IBAN/BIC data would be affected for almost 3% of impacted data”.

Sidaction affirms, however, that bank card data is not affected.

“Aware of the consequences that may result from this event, Sidaction is doing everything possible to limit its effects and has individually informed all the people concerned, while the service provider is strengthening existing security measures,” assures Sidaction while specifying that ‘ “it is still possible to make a donation online in complete security”.

“All the teams at Sidaction and its service provider are committed to the security of the data entrusted by donors. This is a constant concern for Sidaction, which will continue to strengthen its protection systems, procedures and instructions, with regard to this type of event,” the press release concludes.
