The Minister of Interior in charge of the Government of National Unity, Major General Imad Mustafa Trabelsi, and his Turkish counterpart, Ali Yerlikaya, signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation in the fields of law enforcement and training between the Government of National Unity and the Turkish government.
This step comes within the framework of consolidating security relations between the two countries and enhancing the exchange of experiences in the fields of security and crime control.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by a number of senior officials from the Ministries of the Interior of the two countries, in addition to the Libyan Ambassador and the Libyan Consul to the Republic of Turkey in Istanbul.
Following the signing, “a meeting was held between the two sides during which they discussed facilitating visa procedures for Libyan patients and students sent to the Republic of Turkey, as well as facilitating the necessary residence procedures for them and their companions, taking into account their health conditions.” The Turkish Minister expressed his country’s readiness to work on these measures within a memorandum of understanding to be signed between the two countries.”
The meeting also addressed “a group of security issues of common interest, emphasizing the importance of developing security cooperation to ensure the protection of common interests and the promotion of regional stability.”
“Means of cooperation in the fields of training, security qualification, and information exchange to combat terrorist threats and organized crime were discussed.”
The signing of the memorandum of understanding comes on the sidelines of the “SAHA EXPO” exhibition, which began on Tuesday in Istanbul, and which is considered one of the most prominent exhibitions specialized in defense industries and advanced technology.
