BEIJING – Enter the automotive industry, Huawei launching faster electric vehicle charging stations. Huawei Technologies currently plans to install 100,000 EV fast charging stations in China starting this year.

In providing vehicle fast charging infrastructure, there is a Huawei charger unit that charges twice as fast as Tesla.

A charging station advertising a range of one kilometer for every second of charge can be found in the parking lot of a shopping mall in Huawei’s home city of Shenzhen.

Additionally, on the charging station, there is a “600kW” symbol under the Huawei logo.

Huawei’s subsidiary, Huawei Digital Power is responsible for developing the ultrafast charging part and is currently still in full-scale exploration.

“We need charging at 1 km per second to provide drivers with the same experience when refueling,” said Liu Dawei from Huawei Digital Power, as reported by Asia Nekkei, Sunday (11/2/2024).

The company plans to install a total of 100,000 units by 2024, including 250 kW chargers, in locations such as commercial facilities and highway service areas.

If we consider Huawei’s statement “one kilometer, one second”, then an electric car equipped with an 80 kW/h battery and a range of 600 km can theoretically be fully charged in eight minutes.

Currently the charger output of 600kW is one of the highest in the world and when compared with the Tesla Super Charger it only has a maximum output of 250kW.
