Nagendran Dharmalingam, a youth of Indian descent from Malaysia, was arrested in 2009 for smuggling heroin into Singapore. He was sentenced to death by a Singapore court. Nagendran’s subsequent appeals and clemency petitions were rejected. Following this, Nagendran was to be executed on the 10th.

However, the sentence has been postponed due to corona damage. In this situation, the Malaysian government urged the Singaporean government to reduce Nagendran’s death sentence to life imprisonment. Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yacoub sent a letter to Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in this regard.
