The ski world is in turmoil because there are rumors that the American Lindsey Vonn could make her comeback (read more about the possible comeback here). This would be possible due to a new FIS rule. Before the start of the coming season, the International Ski Federation introduced a wildcard rule. This enables former alpine stars to make a simple comeback back into the sport.

Franz Klemm also commented on the rumors about Vonn. The 70-year-old, who became Olympic downhill champion in 1976, said in an interview with “oe.24”: “If she really does that with a bad knee and the prosthesis, she’ll have a great shot.” Nevertheless, Klemm wishes her “good luck” if it comes to that. Vonn actually ended her career five years ago with, among other things, 82 individual World Cup victories. The main reason for the 39-year-old’s retirement was a bad knee. However, Vonn now has an artificial knee joint.

Last December, Norwegian Sturla Holm Laegreid sent the biathlon world into turmoil after a shot went off from his rifle in the team hotel. Now the 27-year-old, who became sprint world champion this year, has given “Fondo Italia” an interview about it. Laegreid now takes the matter with humor, says: “Perhaps one of the strengths of a biathlete is that you are mentally strong and can leave tragedies behind you. You learn not to let it get you down, but rather to work on something like that doesn’t happen again. You learn, draw a line and start again.”

Both the police and the world association IBU were investigating at the time. Laegreid was banned from the mass start race and fined 500 euros. However, this did not affect his sporting achievements. In addition to the World Championship title in the sprint, he won World Championship silver in the pursuit and relay. Almost a year later, the Norwegian said: “The hole in the sofa is still there and now always reminds me of it.”
