Sky Go on Fire TV – is that possible?

by times news cr

Installing Sky Go on a Fire TV device proving challenging? We’ll show you what options you have.

Fire TV devices are particularly popular because of their low purchase price. And the streaming app Sky Go also has a large fan base because of its exclusive content. But can the two worlds be connected? You can find out what you can do if Sky Go is not running on your Fire TV device here.

According to the provider, Sky Go is intended for mobile use. However, Fire TV devices are usually used stationary, for example on the television in the living room. The Sky Go app, which is available for smartphones, tablets and laptops, is therefore not intended for use on devices in the Fire TV product range.

Although Sky Go for Android can be installed on Fire TV devices via sideloading, streaming is still not possible via it. If you try to start the app installed this way, you will receive an error message. In this case, installing via sideloading is not worth it.

Even mirroring the screen content of your smartphone or tablet using screen mirroring does not help you transfer a stream from Sky Go to your Fire TV device. This used to be an alternative, but the provider has now taken measures to prevent streaming by duplicating the display.

There is currently no known way to use Sky Go on a Fire TV device. If you really want to stream content from Sky Go, your only option is to use another device.

As already mentioned, streaming is possible with smartphones and tablets. Sky Go also works on Amazon Fire tablets. There is also a Sky Go app for Windows and macOS to use the streaming service on a laptop.

However, if you only want to stream via your Fire TV device, all you have to do is change the streaming provider as a Sky Go alternative. For example, you can get apps for Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+, MGM+, Apple TV, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Joyn and many more via your Fire TV’s app store.
