Snowfall is expected to continue across the country until Sunday, meteorologists said. Earlier, the National Weather Service had forecast thundershowers in many parts of the country till Monday. Riyadh, Makkah, Madinah, Eastern Province, Al Baha, Azir, Jazan, Al Qasim, Tabuk, Al Jawf and Hail were forecast to receive moderate to heavy rainfall.

Jebel Al Laus is a mountain range in northwestern Saudi Arabia, about 200 km northwest of the city of Tabuk, near the Jordanian border, and is called Jebel al Laus because of its abundance of almond trees. Almonds are called lous in Arabic.

The Directorate General of Civil Defense said that rapid security forces and defense teams have been deployed in most areas at risk due to the rains. The army is ready to respond quickly to any disaster, an official spokesman said. Colonel Muhammad al-Hammadi said. He urged the people to stay away from dangerous areas and follow the Civil Defense directives in due course. He also said that attention should be paid to announcements about security in the news media and on social media.
