The video was posted to Twitter by Julia Davis, the creator of the Russian surveillance group Russian Media Monitor. “Meanwhile in Russia look at the way the new recruits are treated,” Davis wrote alongside the video. “An unknown man complains that his shoes, his money and his mattress were stolen. He says, it’s just like that. He then enters a large tent which he says is his residence, adding that it is heated by one small stove. “It didn’t help at all,” says the soldier about the heater. “You can hear how hoarse my voice is, it’s terrible. Half the guys got a cold.”
He also claims that his mattress was stolen, adding that stealing is “the way to survive here.” The stoves may also be stolen, he adds. His money and shoes were also torn, he claimed, and said that his superiors did not care. “Like the lieutenant told me, ‘Am I your mother or your father? Find it yourself.'”
