Today, the Solemnity of All Saints competes, in different areas of culture, against “Halloween” and its commercial and profane spirit. Therefore, it is necessary that we not lose sight of what we are called to as Christians: to live holiness and do all the good that comes from God.
In 2013, Pope Francis made a beautiful exhortation to the crowd that accompanied him in the celebration of this Solemnity: “God tells you: do not be afraid of holiness, do not be afraid to aim high, to let yourself be loved and purified by God, do not be afraid to let yourself be guided by the Holy Spirit. Let us allow ourselves to be infected by the holiness of God.”
Let us never forget that we are called to be saints! And that we must remember and be grateful for the lives of so many men and women who gave everything for the love of Jesus. Their lives were not free of difficulties, but having honestly loved Christ earned them peace in the midst of difficulty or pain and joy in the midst of the community of brothers that is the Church.
