The cast is made up of twelve neurologically atypical girls and boys, that is, with a series of syndromes that lead to difficulties in social interaction, including verbal and non-verbal communication. The story was written by Riccardo Castellazzi, a boy with a severe form of autism, who answered a ten-question questionnaire based on the hero’s journey model, prepared by Andrea Aglieri, the screenwriter. To overcome his communication difficulties, Riccardo used software that helped him express himself. The result is a rich and intense script that reflects his vision of the world. His work shows that with the right support and resources, people with disabilities can overcome huge obstacles to create great things.

The idea comes from Andrea Baglio, a young director, actor and digital creative who attracted the attention of the media with projects on the web that attracted millions of clicks, including «Freaks! The Series” (2011), “Escape from Death” (2013-2018) and “Voldemort: Origin of the Heir” (2018). The film was made by Mad Oven, a joint group from the world of filmmaking and multimedia communication with a passion for stories that express positive values; the team interacted with the group with advice and technical assistance, but were given the art direction, which chose with complete creative freedom how to tell the story. The DOP camera operator is Gianluca Colombo, Gianmarco Dal Negro’s production manager. The film, which was completed in August, cost 7,500 euros.

The plot: one day a young boy discovers that the adults have prepared a “bad” tasting sauce, as a result of a distracted and careless attitude. The lack of love and care in the preparation of the dish reflects his negative state of mind. The boy decides that it is not acceptable, especially since the sauce will be served during an important lunch where many people are invited. Deciding to change the story, he joins his friends and they start changing the sauce together. Each friend brings a special ingredient, symbolizing values such as happiness, courage and resilience. In the end, the lunch is a success and everyone present can enjoy a delicious dish, made possible by the commitment and positive values of the boy and his friends. The title, «Souce», is a fictional term that blends the words «sauce» (sauce) and «anam» (soul), symbolizing the essence of cooking with love.
