Southern Railway to run special train between Chennai and Tuticorin for Diwali

Southern Railway has announced that a special train will be run between Chennai and Tuticorin on the occasion of Diwali. The decision was made to avoid the rush of passengers during the festival.

The special train will depart from Chennai Egmore at 11:45 pm on November 10th and 12th. It will pass through Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Sirkazhi, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Trichy, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Chatur, and Kovilpatti before reaching Tuticorin at 12:30 pm.

In the return journey, the special train will depart from Tuticorin on November 11th and 13th and reach Chennai-Egmore at 4:45 am the next day.

The Southern Railway Madurai Division has also informed that ticket booking for this special train will start soon.

This move is expected to provide a convenient travel option for passengers during the festive season. It will also help in reducing the burden on regular train services between Chennai and Tuticorin.

In addition to the special train, the Omni Bus Routes in Chennai have also been changed ahead of Diwali to accommodate the high volume of passengers expected to travel during the festival.
