A special fire fighting and emergency evacuation drill was held at Walton Hi-Tech Park in Chandraya, Gazipur. The Fire Safety Management Section of the Environment, Health and Safety (AHS) department of the institution organized this special firefighting and evacuation drill on Wednesday (October 23). Members working at Walton Hi-Tech Park spontaneously participated in the basic concept and practical application of fire fighting and other evacuation systems.

Emergency evacuation drills discuss the practical use of fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, what to do in case of fire and other emergency situations, and rescue and safe exit of injured persons.

During the exercise, Deputy Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Plc Mohammad Yusuf Ali asked everyone in the factory to follow safety and ensure the activities in a phone message. At the same time, in the current situation, Walton encouraged the whole family to work together to face any natural and man-made disaster.

Walton’s senior executive director Mohammad Rafiqul Islam said at the event, it is important for all of us to have knowledge of fire fighting, emergency rescue and first aid. By doing this, it is possible to escape from fire in emergency and avoid major accidents. Such drills are essential to enhance the preparedness of all workers in the building as per Bangladesh Labor Code to deal efficiently in emergency situations. Walton has always placed the utmost importance on this matter. Along with this, he gave guidance on what to do in various unstable situations of contemporary Bangladesh.

Mainly the absence or lack of fire fighting system, shortness of exit routes and above all lack of training and awareness are responsible for major losses. Carelessness is the main cause of fire. So if everyone is aware of their position, the risk of fire will be reduced a lot.

The exercise is organized as part of ongoing efforts to ensure workplace safety. In order to safely evacuate all officers and employees in an orderly manner at the earliest and protect company assets, the exercise was divided into functional groups. General Admin Section Engineer Nazmus Sadayat, Public Relations Section Mohsin Ali Mollah, Deputy Head of Administration Department Tanveer Ahmed, Refrigerator Production Department Incharge Engineer Badal Islam and other senior officials were present. Engineer-in-charge of fire safety management section of Walton EHS department. Ishadul Islam was in charge.
