Investor and co-owner of GSC Game World Maxim Krippa shared the successes of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl and the studio’s plans in an interview with Forbes. According to him, the shooter has already paid for itself and has begun to make a profit. While exact sales numbers for the game were not revealed, Crippa noted that it sold “a fair number of copies.” Moreover, earlier, on November 22, the studio announced that the sequel had been purchased a million times. This was reported by the DTF publication, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.
More than 470 people worked on the development of STALKER 2, which is a significant increase from 2020, when there were only 65 specialists on staff.
The GSC Game World team plans to release two story add-ons and an online mode for the shooter, and is also considering the possibility of releasing the game on other platforms, including possibly PS5.
Negotiations are underway within the studio about the possible creation of a series based on STALKER 2, which could be realized in collaboration with the Netflix streaming service. However, it is unclear whether Netflix representatives are involved in these discussions.
STALKER 2 was released on November 20 on PC and Xbox Series X|S, including Game Pass. The developers have already released several major patches and plan to fix the problems that arose in the A-Life 2.0 system in the future.
