Defender Niklas Stark sees no parallels to the situation of his current club Werder Bremen in the fight against relegation from the Bundesliga and the situation of his former club Hertha BSC last year.
“No, it feels different. We have a clear vision of how we play football,” said the 28-year-old to the specialist magazine “Kicker”. “We also played well recently, although we didn’t manage to take more points,” said Stark. “I don’t have the feeling that we are insecure. That’s why it’s more fun than last year.”
Stark will compete with Bremen in Berlin on Saturday (3.30 p.m. / Sky). Last season, he only secured his place in the league with Hertha BSC in the relegation against second division third-placed Hamburger SV.
The bottom of the table from the capital parted ways with coach Sandro Schwarz earlier this week and brought back Stark’s long-time coach Pal Dardai. “There are phases in a season where unfortunate things lead to goals,” Stark said about Bremen’s winless series.
