Kunnar: 11 people from the Nilgiris won medals in the state karate competition. The Tamil Open Karate ‘Championship’ competition was held at PSG College, Coimbatore for 2 days. 45 students of ‘Nilgiri Allan Tilak’ Karate School participated in Kata and Kumuthe competitions. Punita, Tanish and Mithun Guru won gold in the Kata competition. Sharmita won the silver medal. In the Gatta competition, Srisai Mani, Janarth, Tanishka; In the Kumuthe competition, Yuvaneshwaran (55 kg category), Rakesh (61 kg category), Madhumitha (60 kg category) and Rohit (63 kg category) won bronze. On behalf of District Karate Association, SB, Ashish Rawat, Sports and Youth Students met and congratulated Welfare Officer Dinesh Kumar. Association President Selvaraj, Secretary Joseph Pakiya Selvam, Treasurer Ramakrishnan and Coach John were present.
