Man Arrested in Brazil Accused of Teenager’s Feminicide, History of Violent Crimes
A 29-year-old man, Marlon Carvalhedo da Rocha, is in custody following the death of a 14-year-old girl in Planaltina, Brazil. The suspect, arrested by the Military Police (PMDF) after a swift response, was already under house arrest and had a documented history of alleged violent offenses, including multiple accusations of rape and theft.
The arrest unfolded after the victim’s mother discovered her daughter unconscious with injuries to her neck during the early hours of the morning. According to reports, the suspect had allegedly separated the victim from her 11-year-old sister, instructing the younger child to sleep in another room.
A Pattern of Violence
This incident is not an isolated one in the life of Marlon Carvalhedo da Rocha. Authorities say he has been investigated for a disturbing pattern of crimes dating back years. In 2016, he was charged with use and possession of a narcotic substance. Three years later, in August 2019, the PMDF responded to a report of rape of a vulnerable person involving an 11-year-old child.
The 2019 incident reportedly occurred during a lunch at a farm, where the suspect allegedly arrived intoxicated and under the influence of drugs. A report from the victim’s mother detailed how he forcibly took the child to a waterfall, where she claimed to have suffered sexual abuse and death threats.
The alleged violence continued in 2023, with another rape accusation – this time involving his own mother during a trip to Natal. In a shocking turn of events, the suspect was restrained by his father and brother until police arrived. A video recording reportedly corroborated the victim’s account.
Recent Criminal Activity and Arrest
Just weeks before the alleged feminicide, on January 13th of this year, the Civil Police (PCDF) investigated Carvalhedo da Rocha for suspected involvement in a vehicle theft in Itapoã. While the car was located after a patrol, the driver fled the scene after colliding with trees. A passenger was detained, and an identity card belonging to the suspect was found inside the vehicle. The stolen car was subsequently recovered and returned to its owner.
The suspect was located and apprehended approximately 20 minutes after the PMDF received the call, aided by the victim’s mother and cell phone tracking of a device stolen from the residence. Authorities stated that Carvalhedo da Rocha had a recent relationship with the teenager’s mother and had been at the apartment the night before the crime.
Following the alleged crime, the suspect fled on foot, taking with him stolen items including a cell phone, computer, perfume, and clothing. Investigators noted the building was newly opened, having only been occupied by the family for three months, and was sparsely furnished.
As of the latest reports, Marlon Carvalhedo da Rocha remains detained at the 16th Police Station in Planaltina, where the investigation is ongoing.
