The Council of Islamic Ideology has ruled that the law sterilizing rape suspects is un-Islamic. The CII is a constitutional body that advises the Pakistani government and parliament on Islamic issues.

This provision was included in an amendment to the law to speed up the sentencing and rape of rape cases. The amendment was passed by a joint sitting of Parliament yesterday.
