<a href="http://www.time.news/roy-cohn-the-obscure-lawyer-who-helped-donald-trump-rise-to-energy/" title="Roy Cohn, the obscure lawyer who helped Donald Trump rise to energy”>Steve Bannon, a prominent figure of the American right and former adviser to Donald Trump, was released from prison on Tuesday morning after spending almost four months behind bars, US media reported.

Bannon has left the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut, according to Kristie Breshears, a spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

His release, after serving his sentence, comes just a week before the US presidential election in which his former boss seeks to regain the White House.

“I’m not broken, I’m strengthened,” he said The New York Times upon release from prison.

Bannon was convicted of defying a subpoena to testify before the congressional committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol by Trump supporters. When he entered prison on July 1, he defiantly said he was “proud” to serve his sentence “if that’s what it takes to take on Joe Biden.”

Although he no longer officially works for Trump, he has continued to use his influence to bring him back to the White House, primarily through his podcast “The War Room.”

Considered one of the prophets of the populist alt-right, Bannon has stated that his goal is to provide “the global infrastructure for the global populist movement” and has supported numerous far-right and populist political movements around the world, especially in Europe . .
