Surprise – the first Bitcoin document has been on all Macs since 2018

by time news

In 2014, Apple removed Bitcoin trading applications from its store, although it has since returned, today we discover that the company’s approach to the decentralized currency is actually different. According to the former CTO of Kickstarter, Andy Baio, every Mac computer since 2018 has hidden inside a file with a copy of the first document in which Bitcoin is described – the “White Paper”. The document is the initial presentation of Bitcoin to the world by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008.

The “white paper” describes the reasons for the creation of Bitcoin, its goals and uses. According to the tests, the document was found on a Mac computer with a Mojave operating system and above. According to Bayo, in order to find the document one must go into the computer’s terminal and type the following commands:

This surprise, which Baio discovered completely by accident, is not the first sign of some sympathy for Bitcoin on the part of Apple, but it simply shows that the sympathy started earlier than we thought. Towards the end of 2021, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed that he owns cryptocurrencies. At a conference held by DealBook, he was asked by journalist Ross Sorkin if he had purchased Bitcoin or Ethereum. Cook replied in the affirmative and explained “I believe it makes sense to hold these currencies as part of a strategy Dispersal of the case”.

Apple doesn’t own Bitcoin like Tesla or MicroStrategy, but the very idea that the world’s largest company has put the original document of the currency on all of its laptops will probably please some Bitcoin enthusiasts. Apple has not yet confirmed why the document was found on the computers and it could be that it was an employee who led to the situation in a way that has not been discovered until today.

This is the second gesture by a major company in the world to the world of crypto. At the beginning of the week, Elon Musk changed the Twitter logo to the dog that is on the Dogecoin currency. Musk talked about the currency a lot and after the move tweeted a picture of his old tweet in which he tells one of his followers that he would love to see the dog appear one day as the logo of the social network (even before he purchased it).
