Washington: Next month, on April 8, a second total solar eclipse is going to occur in North America. People in this part of the world will see the second total solar eclipse in seven years. On April 8, people will feel it is night during the day. Skywatchers in Mexico will be the first to see the eclipse. After this it will move towards north. It will enter America via Texas and then move towards north-east via Canada and end. This year’s solar eclipse will be visible in Western Europe, North America, North South America, Pacific Atlantic, Arctic. At the same time, the first solar eclipse of the year will not be visible in India and neighboring countries.
The reason for solar eclipse is the Moon coming between the Earth and the Sun. The Moon is about 400 times smaller than the Sun, but it is 400 times closer to us. What happens is that when both the celestial bodies are aligned, they appear to be of the same size in the sky from Earth. The solar eclipse of April 8 will last for about two hours. It will start with a partial solar eclipse. After this the sun will move towards total eclipse. According to NASA, it can last for 70 to 80 minutes.
How many ways does a solar eclipse occur?
There are three types of solar eclipse. A total solar eclipse occurs when such a situation occurs between the Sun, the Moon and the Earth that the Moon completely blocks sunlight from reaching the Earth. In this situation the full shadow of the Moon falls on the Earth and it becomes dark. This is called total solar eclipse. When the shadow of the Moon does not cover the entire area and covers only a part of the Earth, it is called a partial solar eclipse. Apart from total and partial solar eclipse, another method of solar eclipse is annular solar eclipse. In this situation the sun starts looking like a ring of fire. This happens when the Moon is visible smaller than the Sun in the sky. Due to this, it does not cover the Sun completely and a ring is visible in the sky.

To view the solar eclipse, it is better to wear glasses or use solar filters in binoculars.
