New Delhi: Delhi Women’s Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal said that her father used to sexually abuse her during her childhood. “He would always beat me. was sexually harassed. I hide under the bed when my father comes home because of fear.” -Swati said at the award ceremony organized by Delhi Commission for Women on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
He was afraid of his father. I used to grab my hair and hit the wall and get bruised. This continued till 4th class. She said that the award ceremony made her emotional and the awardees’ stories of struggle reminded her of her own struggle. He also thought how to teach a lesson to such people who torture women and children. Swati said that the experiences of that period are behind the determination to work for the welfare of women. In 2015, Swati Maliwal became the Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women.
