Interview with Defense Expert Dr. Ahmed Al-Rashid on the Ongoing Conflict in Syria
Q: Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Al-Rashid.Can you summarize the current situation faced by syrian forces in the countryside of Aleppo and Idlib, as reported by the Syrian News Agency (SANA)?
A: Thank you for having me. The current situation is quite tense. Syrian forces are continuously facing terrorist attacks, especially from groups such as Al-Nusra, which are operating in the regions of Aleppo and Idlib. SANA has indicated that these attacks have been met with strong responses from the Syrian army, who claim to have inflicted heavy losses on the attackers in terms of both equipment and personnel.
Q: The Syrian Army’s General Command mentioned violations of the de-proliferation agreement. Can you elaborate on what this means for the region?
A: absolutely. the de-proliferation agreement aims to limit the presence and use of extremist groups in specified areas. These ongoing terrorist attacks represent a significant violation of that agreement and indicate serious instability in the region. Such actions undermine efforts for peace and security, and they draw attention to the complexity of the geopolitical dynamics at play, including the involvement of both regional and international players.
Q: In terms of tactics, what approaches are Syrian forces using to counter these terrorist attacks?
A: The syrian Army has resorted to a variety of military tactics, utilizing multiple methods of firepower, which likely includes artillery strikes and air support. Furthermore, they are collaborating closely with kind forces, indicating a strategy centered on coalition efforts to restore security in the region.
Q: What are the broader implications of these conflicts for the civilians living in Aleppo and Idlib?
A: Civilians are often caught in the crossfire during these military operations. With terrorist groups targeting safe villages and military positions, there’s a heightened risk of civilian casualties, displacement, and disruption of daily life. This situation not only exacerbates humanitarian crises but also complicates international responses, as the presence of armed groups can inhibit humanitarian access to affected communities.
Q: Given the complex nature of these ongoing confrontations, what practical advice would you offer to our readers who are trying to understand the situation better?
A: It’s vital for readers to stay informed through credible news sources and to approach the situation with an understanding of its complexities. Additionally, supporting humanitarian organizations working in the area can be a constructive way to help those affected. Engaging in discussions and raising awareness about the plight of civilians in conflict zones can also contribute to broader support for conflict resolution efforts.
Q: Lastly, where do you see the situation heading in the near future?
A: The future remains uncertain. Provided that terrorist groups continue their aggressive campaigns, the likelihood of stability in Aleppo and Idlib is low. the ongoing military responses from syrian forces could either escalate the conflict or potentially lead to a situation where peace talks become necesary. International involvement will also play a crucial role in determining the outcome. The situation requires careful monitoring as it evolves.
Q: Thank you, Dr. Al-Rashid, for your insights today. It’s crucial for our readers to understand the depth of these conflicts.
A: Thank you for the opportunity to discuss this critical issue. Raising awareness is key to fostering a more informed dialog.
