New Delhi – The Supreme Court criticized Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi for rejecting the proposal to make DMK leader K. Ponmudi a minister again. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud asked the central government what the government will do if the governor does not follow the constitution. A bench consisting of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra granted time till tomorrow to make Ponmudi a minister.

“If your person doesn’t give an explanation tomorrow, we will issue an order directing the governor to act according to the constitution. We are very concerned about the Tamil Nadu Governor and his behaviour. He has no authority to do this. Challenging the Supreme Court. We are keeping our eyes open. We will decide tomorrow. “We are very worried,” said the Chief Justice.

The Chief Justice said that the Governor is defying the Supreme Court. Those who advised him did not advise him adequately. I may have a different view of men or ministers. But we have to go by the constitution. If the Chief Minister says we want to appoint a person, the Governor should do it as part of parliamentary democracy. He is the constitutional head of the state.” – added the Chief Justice.

The Tamil Nadu government approached the Supreme Court against Governor RN Ravi, who rejected the proposal to reinstate K. Ponmudi as a minister. The petition requested the court to direct the governor to allow the appointment of Ponmudi as a minister and the change of department of the ministers. The Chief Minister had written to the Governor to re-induct Ponmudi into the cabinet based on the Supreme Court’s order barring the execution of the sentence in the illegal acquisition case. However, the Governor rejected the request stating that the execution of the sentence was stayed only for the time being and he was not found guilty.
