A woman from Sulur Kannampalayam area was tried by her husband Siva after throwing acid at the Coimbatore District Unified Court Complex and tried to run away. This incident has created a stir there. He was chased away by a lady constable. He has been praised and rewarded.

Siva’s wife Kavitha (33) hails from Kaveri Nagar, Ramanathapuram, Coimbatore. Kavitha was arrested and released on bail in the case of stealing 10 pounds of gold jewelery from a bus passenger in 2016. He had gone to the court in Waita today in connection with that case. Meanwhile, Kavita and Siva seem to have had frequent disputes (Kavita is said to have separated from her husband and lived with two children).

It was in such an environment that Kavita went to the court today to appear in the jewelry theft case. Siva followed him there and got into a heated argument with Kavita, who was waiting for the case. At the end of the argument, Siva poured acid, which he had hidden in a plastic bottle, on Kavita’s body. Kavita was seriously injured (40%). Seeing this, some lawyers in the neighborhood tried to save Kavita. At that time, some of the lawyers also suffered minor injuries due to acid attack.

In this situation, Siva, who threw acid, was chased away by the lawyers present. Indumati, the lady guard there, rushed and chased him away. Meanwhile, the injured Kavita was immediately sent to the hospital for treatment with the help of lawyers. The incident created a commotion in the entire court complex. Last month, a person was hacked to death in a clash between rioters near the same court complex, yet again a crime incident took place inside the court which has created a lot of commotion among the people of Coimbatore.

Meanwhile, Coimbatore North Deputy Commissioner, who personally inspected the scene, said, “In the preliminary investigation, it has been revealed that Siva poured acid on Kavita during the dispute between the husband and wife. A thorough investigation is underway. The people present in the court did not get suspicious as Siva took the acid hidden in a plastic water bottle. The investigation is ongoing. Full details will be given soon,” he said. Raceway police have registered a case and started investigation into the incident.

Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Padrinarayan expressed great appreciation to Indumati, the female head constable of Anaimalai Police Station, who nabbed the accused in the district police office. He also gave a cash reward of Rs 5,000.
